Best Tech Manager

Natalia Gonzalez joined MyVest 13 years ago and brings great expertise from her roles in operations and product management. Here’s a highlight from the Best Tech Manager award nomination that showcases her approach to management. 

How does Natalia ensure a great team culture?

“It’s critical for every individual in a team to feel seen, heard, and appreciated. This is foundational to a great team culture and a cornerstone of how MyVest approaches corporate culture,” said Natalia. “Fostering the behaviors that lead to great team culture is everyone’s responsibility but managers are uniquely positioned to set a great example.” One of the biggest strengths of any team is diversity and ensuring that everyone feels they have a voice and their perspective is valued is crucial. Natalia explains, “Each and every day I strive to make sure everyone feels that they can speak their mind and provide their opinion and have it be heard and considered.”

MyVest sets the stage for a great team culture through understanding and active support of work/life balance. “The corporate culture is such that we are all encouraged and supported to have full and enriching lives. As you can imagine, this culture of mutual trust, openness and respect fosters true camaraderie,” said Natalia.“As a manager, it’s also important to have frequent check-ins with direct reports to ensure that their workload is manageable and that they feel good about their work/life balance. The benefits that come from each person feeling that they are truly valued and appreciated is immense. It leads to better team cohesion, more creative problem solving, and improves employee morale and retention,” she continued.
